Formal Region: France Vineyards

I would say that the the france vineyards are a formal region because they all share the same characteristic: they grow grapes to make wine. They are all located in places that allow them to have good soil. Most all of them are located in a valley, on a mountain, or by the ocean side.

Functional Region: Paris, France

Paris, France is not only the home of the Eiffel Tower but it is a functional region! How, you may be asking yourself. Well, Paris connects France together in many ways. The first way that you could think of it is that it is France's capital, therefore all towns and cities connect to France in some way.

Secondly, Paris can connect France to other countries in the world! Since you know that it is the home of the Eiffel Tower, it produces many tourist each year. That is exposing the French people to other cultures and is connecting them to us.

Perceptual Region: Paris

Many people know Paris as "The City of Love". That makes Paris a perceptual region, simply because it is known by a nickname. It also has a trademark that you can associate with it (The Eiffel Tower). When you here "Eiffel Tower", you almost immediately think of Paris. It is also known as "The City of Lights", because it was one of the first cities to be electrified.
